The sentinel interview has been cancelled today and will be arranged for another day.
Today's Talkbank group has been looking at the Big Brother programme. We've been doing research on the Internet, specifically about the use of the word 'psycho' used by housemates in the programme. We have found that there were little or no complaints made about it, and we feel the word is offensive and was used in an offensive way.
Therefore we have written a letter to the sentinel and we will also be sending a copy to channel 4 expressing our concerns about the matter.
We will be carrying on further research on the word 'psychosis' next week.

It's a word chosen and often used by the ignorant and its use is often only regretted when they realise that the label they have tried to pin on others is attached to themselves permanently.

I'd be really interested in reading more on this issue. I think it might be worth checking out brightwards blog too - there's an interesting post about the use of language. It's on the library.
